JNE is committed to protect and promote the health and safety of all employees by developing a safe and health work environment through the cooperative efforts of all workplace parties. Successfully managing health and safety issues is an essential component of our business strategy.

At JNE, our programs are designed to provide a systematic and measurable approach to health and safety to ensure they meet our clients’ requirements and applicable legislation as well as to provide continuous performance improvement. Health and safety is integrated into all organizational activities, from design to production.

Our Company Health and Safety Program includes nine major components which provide the framework for integrating safety into the daily routine of every employee.
They are:

1. Orientations & Company Health & Safety Rules:
At the start of employment each JNE employee is given an orientation by his/her supervisor to explain the company rules and procedures and answer any work related questions.

2. Emergency Procedures:
Outlines the steps to be taken by employees in the event of an emergency such as fire, evacuation, or medical emergency.

3. Accident Investigation and Reporting:
Details the requirements for reporting, documenting and investigating all incidents. The accident reports provide the basis for statistical data which is an indicator of Company or project safety performance.

4. Return to Work Program:
Outlines the Company’s initiatives to return an injured worker to his/her job following a work related injury.

5. Joint health and Safety Committee:
Includes the purpose and function of a Committee as well as the roles and responsibilities of the members.

6. Workplace Inspections:
Provides guidelines for regularly inspecting work locations and reporting, documenting and correcting any hazards that are found.

7. Health and Safety Training:
Lists some of the fundamental training required to make employees more knowledgeable of health and safety topics and more competent to perform their job.

8. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS):
Deals with the employee’s right to know about hazardous materials in the workplace.

9. Field Safety Procedures:
It includes procedures that are different from the office environment and unique to, an industrial project site. Compliance with JNE’s and the client’s safety procedures, practices and rules is a minimum requirement for all employees on any project site.

At JNE, we continually strive to optimize the effectiveness and integrity of our programs through open communications, comprehensive training and education, audits and workplace assessments.
